Content contributions

😃
Please note, content contributions page is work in progress

Introduction 👋🏿

We welcome everything from suggesting what content you’d like to see in the app, writing an exercise or meditation, to the complete production of a collection of exercises with a specific purpose, added to our content management system. We also collaborate to adapt content from other contexts to the 29k platform.

📌
Code of conduct 👫

This project and everyone participating in it uses the 29k Code of Conduct as a compass in our co-creation process. By contributing, you are expected to uphold this code. Please report unacceptable behavior to help@29k.org.

👁️ Quality and copyright

Please note that 29k:

  • publishes psychological interventions based on science.
  • applies a creative commons license, allowing anyone to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon a work, even commercially, as long as they credit the original creator. Everything we publish in the app thus becomes readily available for all to use in other contexts, as long as 29k is credited.
  • applies strict quality criteria for content. A 29k editor reviews all suggested material and we only publish content where the science behind it, and the writing in it, meet our quality standards.

What is 29k content? 🤝

What we do 🤹🏿‍♀️
  1. What do we offer?
  2. Connection. Hope, empowerment, knowledge.

Changing behavior, making wise decisions, dealing with complexity, loving yourself and others, pursuing goals, and saving the planet is a necessity – not a luxury. But those skills aren’t taught in schools. You can learn them, right here, right now, with 29k.

The focus of the app is inner development, where we assume the user is in a good-enough place to stretch herself for the future.

Some content cater for needs that can come up during challenging times; anxiety, grief, worry and stress, for example. They will be labeled basics/foundations, fundamentals, or something similar, all gathered under one theme.

  3. Where do we meet our users?
  4. We meet our users in a state where they long for something.

Something new, something different, something better, something more.

    Change.

That means our users may be beginners on a journey, or they may have previous experience with inner development. What they have in common is they want to be curious, committed, and caring. For themselves, for others, for the planet. But they do not have (all) the psychological tools needed. 29k does.

When it’s time to strengthen your inner foundation and when it’s time to add new branches and stretch your inner capabilities. We’re here for you all the way.

  5. Who do we write for?
  6. (Our language aims to be understandable for an English-speaking 15-year old.)

Our core user is committed to learning and inner development.

Age does not matter, gender does not matter, profession does not matter, education does not matter. But the actual context on this day matters. The drive to do something differently from yesterday.

Theoretical standpoint 🧑🏽‍🍳

We base our content on current, scientifically-backed interventions that have been proven effective for a given condition or context. Almost all 29k content is rooted in Contextual Behavioral Science, but we are open to incorporating elements from traditional CBT and other "third wave" therapies and theories when appropriate, emphasizing the importance of theory.

Most of 29k content is theoretically aligned with psychological flexibility. It is based on the idea that our behavior is affected by both our internal processes as well as our external environment. Psychological flexibility focuses on how we can use our internal resources (thoughts, beliefs, values, emotions) to interact with our external environment in order to live meaningfully and more in line with our values. Psychological flexibility consists of three main components:

  1. Awareness: Directing attention to the here and now, acknowledging thoughts, feelings and experiences.
  2. Openness: Willingness to have, and acceptance towards, unwanted or unpleasant experiences.
  3. Engagement: Taking actions that are consistent with our values, even in the face of difficulty.

Scientific backing 👣

All content in the 29k app should be backed by science, but the degree of evidence may vary:

  1. Meta-analysis of meta- analysis, Meta-analysis or systematic reviews made on this type of intervention
  2. Randomised study proving the effectiveness of this kind of intervention
  3. Promising pilot studies, experienced researcher or expert in the field that wants to collaborate on this topic
  4. If no evidence yet, is it promising enough for us to help with the research? Requires:
  5. transparency to the user
    safety for the users
    ethical permit
    strong theoretical underpinning

How to write 29k content ✅

There are two different settings for delivering 29k content: live and async. Both settings needs to be catered for in writing, where the live is a group setting (with anyone or with friends) and the async is done by a single user alone.

All 29k sessions are built up by the same lego blocks. For now, there are five different ones:

Host block Live only: guiding notes with instructions for the host.

Instruction block Async only: Short introduction/outro in text + image - if needed.

Content block - preferably audio file accompanied by video/animation//illustration delivery of background info, instructions or tasks. Live: Guiding notes for host, if needed.

Reflection block Live only - allowing users to reflect on a question or perform a task for a certain period of time. Guiding question in text: guiding notes for host.

Sharing block - allowing users to share their experience or reflection with others, as well as experiencing others’ reflections. Live: live. Async: prerecorded sharings, users upload text sharings.

All blocks may be repeated when appropriate, then template texts should be modified to not repeat unnecessary things.

  2. All you need to do is listen. There is no fixing, helping or advice-giving needed. We are just showing up and exploring what ourselves and others are going through.
  3. Everything on the inside is okay. Anger, love, hatred, sadness. Whatever shows up. No wrongs, no rights. It is what it is.
